
Timothy Lomeli
Professor Timothy Lomeli (Ph.D., Florida State University) works on Francophone Caribbean studies, Afro-Caribbean religions, gender and sexuality, media studies, and translation. He is particularly interested in how cultural and textual representations intersect with practices of resistance and liberation to challenge dominant narratives. He has published on Haitian Immigration, Dany Laferri猫re, Micha毛l Ferrier, Mimi Barth茅l茅my, the singer Chris/Redcar, and the filmmaker Paulin Vieyra. His work has appeared in The Journal of Latino/Latin American Studies (JOLLAS), Word & Image, The Journal of Contemporary French Civilization, Journal of Contemporary French & Francophone Studies, and Black Camera. He is also the co-translator of Gis猫le Pineau鈥檚 Ady, Black Sun (Liverpool University Press, 2025). He is currently working on a monograph that explores the relationship between Vodou Poetics, concepts of being, and writing the Haitian novel.
Professor Lomeli is also a Haitian Studies Digital Fellow for the Haitian Studies Association where he collaborates on the development of their digital resource sharing platform, Konbit Konesans.
He has previously taught all levels of French language, as well as cultural courses on gender & celebrity, Vodou, and the French Black Atlantic.
